Let It Snow.. Let It Snow... Let It Snow

Yes.... let it snow.... and it definately has. Over the last 5 days we have gotten a "little snow." On Saturday we put a ruler on top of the van and we were at 12" then. Saturday night we had about a half inch of freezing rain that compacted the snow a little. Then we got another 12 + inches over the next couple of days.

Can you spot our van with a ruler standing up straight on top of the windshield? I had Jeff take a picture of me standing in front of the van (thus the tracks in the snow) and the snow came up above my knees. The kids have had so much fun playing in the snow cause it is actually dry snow. We usually get a heavy wet snow. Good times were had by all.

It was so cold that the snow wasn't melting anywhere but on top of the house cause of the heating. And we were freezing so it was up higher. It did result in some cool icicles. This one was hanging in thin air. Pretty cool!!

I didn't know that spider webs were this strong. It was fun taking pictures and watching water run down the web and over the icicle. It was really cool while it lasted and was gone in a few hours.

I took some videos of the kids sledding. I will get those posted soon. I know that this is a little late. Things have been a little busy with kids out of school for so long. But I thought you would like to see the snow that we had. It is all gone now (thank goodness) and I am able to get out and do stuff.

December Alreadly!

I can hardly believe that it is December and Christmas is just around the corner. I have managed to do a little decorating. More because the kids won't let me put it off. :) I will get some pictures posted soon of the tree. We had a good time as a family going to our usual U-cut place, picking out our tree and cutting it down. I think the kids just love the part about running around in all the trees hiding from and seeking for each other. Laura slept through the whole thing. She does love to lay under the tree and look at all the lights. She is getting pretty good at getting to the lights and the ornaments which to her are fun stuff to play with.

Laura has started eating cereal now and when she is hungry actually enjoys swallowing it. If she isn't hungry... well lets just say she thinks it is funny to make a mess of it. (And so do the other kids.)

Thanksgiving was fun. We went to the McLauchlin's and had a wonderful time. We ate a lot of food, watched some movies and of course, riding the 4-wheelers. Andrew thought it was so much fun to ride around on Grandpa's big one in the little seat in the back. Scott loved being on his own and Amy thought it was really neat that they went a whole 9 miles up a road and saw so much stuff. She was really impressed about the 9 miles for some reason. I was taking a nap at the time with Laura and didn't get any pictures of Amy on the 4-wheelers. But I know she had a good time driving her own too.

This week

Well, lets see... Laura is now 4 months old and has exactly doubled her birth weight. She is now 12 lbs. 12 oz. Getting so big. I had to go through her wardrobe and take out all the newborn stuff. Kinda sad. But it was fun to get her the next size clothes. We got some really cute ones from a friend of Jeff's whose daughter, same age as Laura, is 18-19 lbs. First baby so we get some cute stuff. I love hand-me-downs!! Thanks Cindy. Laura is in the 20th percentile on weight, 26th for height (24" tall) and 66th on noggin size (42 cm.) She falls right in line with the rest of the kiddos. Hugh heads!! Lots of brains, right?!?!

Andrew had his 4 year check up at the same time. He showed the Doctor how impressive he is with his awesome skills of hoping, jumping, sitting still, breathing deep and of course how he is potty trained now and using cool underwear. At this point in the conversation with the doctor, he turned around, opened the back of his "gown" and bent over touching his toes, wiggling his cute little butt and said (though his legs) "Look, its Incredible Hulk underwear." The doctor, bless her heart, said in such a respectful voice... " That is so wonderful!! I love the Hulk!" Andrew positively beamed with pride. I was trying so hard to not bust a gut in the corner watching the whole interaction he was having with the doctor. When did our little boy get so big? Oh wait... he has always been a big boy! :D Anyway, he now weighs 49 lbs and is 42 1/2 " tall. A big boy and solid too.

Scott is doing really good in school. He is doing good at reading. That is his favorite thing to do. He is learning about volcanoes right now. Talk about cool!!

Amy is also doing really good in school. She is learning to read and enjoys it a lot. She also lost her 8th tooth on Saturday at our ward Thanksgiving dinner. It was a very special thing for her to not have to have it ripped out with dental floss. I am just glad that she didn't swallow it. I didn't want to have to try and figure out how the Tooth Fairy was going to give her money for that. :) But apparently the Tooth Fairy is in big trouble because she didn't make it to Amy's tooth last night and now owes her double. Oops!

Also we found out that... YES children can sleep anywhere!!

Andrew had fallen asleep on the couch and Jeff was trying to wake him up to go to the bathroom one last time. It didn't work. I don't think I have laughed so hard for a while. It was so funny. I am glad that we got a camera so that we could share this with all of you. We love you!

Laura's Blessing Dress

I finally got some pictures of Laura in her blessing dress. I can hardly believe that this skinny little baby is my chubby kiddo now. Glad the cream is sticking to her ribs. She goes in tomorrow (11-13) for her 4 month check up. I can hardly believe it. 4 months old!! Wow how time flies! Especially when you are busy!

I just love this dress. I am glad that this picture caught some of the detail work. Thank you Karey for taking pictures for me!!

Here are two of my favorite pictures. I am so glad that Grandpa Bill was able to come up and spend some time with us. Even with all the crazy family things going on that same weekend. What a guy to roll with the punches! Sleeping on the couch and everything. ;) We wished that everyone could have come up but were grateful for those that did and know that the others were there in spirit. (Do you have any pictures of Grace in her dress?) I can't remember what it looks like.

Now onto another note. We are still waiting to hear about the house we are hopefully going to buy. We are just waiting for it to go through the Country Wide Mortgage quality control or something like that. Who knows how long that will take. But we are still waiting and hoping that we will be in by Thanksgiving and definitely before Christmas. I guess that we are learning patience. A lesson that is relearned often! :D

Halloween

Poor little Miss Laura, her and things that go around her head keep slipping down over her eyes. Cutie pie!!

The kids had so much fun on Halloween. The weather was really mild and no rain the whole evening.

Scott was Dracula, Laura a cute little Jack-o-lantern, Amy a ninja princess and Andrew the cutest mummy ever.

This was on the evening of the Harvest festival at the church the Wednesday before Halloween. They got a ton of candy that night and started the sugar high that I still don't think they have come down off of. :)

Sorry the pictures are sideways. I am still trying to figure it all out.

Finally getting with the times

After a lot of encouragement (thanks Carolyn) I finally am doing a blog. Figured it is easier than trying to remember everyone on an email list and usually forgetting someone. Hopefully this will help me obtain the goal of a weekly keep in touch thing.

This is Laura's cute little Halloween outfit. I need to take more pictures of it. This one is kinda blurry. Still learning the new camera.

This is Andrew hanging out in his PJs waiting to get his hair cut. He is so excited..... now. :)
